The St. Clair County Transit District (SCCTD) Board honored Lt. Michael Hundelt at its August board meeting for his service to the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department as well as the Metro Unit. During his tenure, Lt. Hundelt represented the Metro Unit on the Transit Advisory Working Group including representatives from bi-state law enforcement, Metro Transit, elected officials and stakeholders like Citizens for Modern Transit.
“The St. Clair County Transit District Board honored Lt. Hundelt for his service not only to the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department but his dedication to the Metro Unit helping to move the dial on safety on MetroLink. Lt. Hundelt was instrumental in brokering a deal for the expansion of St. Clair County Sheriff patrols to both sides of the river and building trust and cooperation between St. Louis County Police, St. Louis City police and St. Clair County Sheriff’s Deputies on the MetroLink Unit ,” said Herb Simmons, Chair, SCCTD Board of Trustees.
According to Lt. Col. Thomas Knapp, “The one thing I am particularly grateful for about the lieutenant is that he keeps meticulous and expansive statistical data of just about everything which became more than a little helpful when the media started FOIA requests in light of recent Metro happenings.”
Lt. Hundelt resides in St. Clair County with his family. He retired from the unit in August.
