The St. Clair County Transit District (SCCTD) has launched a Summer Riding Program for St. Clair County tots, tweens and teens. This summer, SCCTD will reward kids for riding, walking, skating or skipping the MetroBikeLink system from June 15 to August 15, 2021. The program is much like those offered through libraries incentivizing kids to read, but instead of reading a certain number of minutes to earn prizes, SCCTD is encouraging participants to track miles on the MetroBikeLink system. From June 15 – August 15, 2021, those 2 to 18 years of age can log miles as they ride, walk, wheel, skate or skip along the MetroBikeLink system and win prizes as highlighted below. Children reaching 100 miles or more will be entered into a drawing for a free bike in August. Younger children are encouraged to ride with their parents on the system. The MetroBikeLink system provides ample opportunities to ride and explore for short or long excursions.
As miles logged increase, so will the incentives provided by SCCTD to continue to ride or walk similar to a local libraries summer reading program. Children reaching 100 miles or more will be entered into a drawing for a free bike in August. Younger children are encouraged to ride with their parents on the system. The MetroBikeLink system provides ample opportunities to ride and explore for short or long excursions.
Participants can log their miles in a Summer Riding Record Booklet, which is able in the lobby of the Belleville Transit Center (718 Scheel Street, Belleville 62220) anytime Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. These, and individual log sheets, can also be downloaded below.
Those tracking miles will have the ability to earn the following prizes:
Prizes can be picked up at 718 Scheel Street, Belleville 62220 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. For those who cannot make this time, please call 618-628-8090 and we can arrange other pickup times at the SCCTD Office at 27 N. Illinois by appointment.
All children ages 2-18 who track 100 miles or more by August 15 will also be entered into a drawing to win a new bike.
SCCTD reserves the right to reject any entry for the Summer Riding Program for any reason at any time.
