SCCTD Board Approves Investment in ATS Fleet

New Camera Equipment on 25 New Vehicles

The St. Clair County Transit District (SCCTD) Board voted to approve a new camera package for the Alternative Transportation System (ATS) fleet at its Sept. 15 Board meeting.  The $66,326 investment includes new cameras on the 25 new vehicles being added to the ATS Fleet in St. Clair County.

“ATS vehicles are an integral part of our fleet in Southwestern Illinois,” commented Herb Simmons, Chair of the St. Clair County Transit District Board of Trustees. “This partner not only provides paratransit service, they are now providing service in many of our areas including Scott Air Force Base. We need to ensure these vehicles have the latest technology.”

The new camera package from Angel Trax will include the following:

  • GPS tracking of fleet in real time,
  • Live views of the drivers on duty, and
  • Capable of tracking unsafe driving.

The SCCTD offers call-a-ride services through a partnership with the Alternative Transportation System (ATS) to provide curb-to-curb community service for individuals certified as American Disabilities Act (ADA) eligible and service for those age 60 and older in some areas.
