UPDATE: Maintenance Underway on MetroBikeLink Trail

Transit District to improve 2.5 mile section on trail

Maintaining the St. Clair County Transit District (SCCTD) system for residents and visitors is top of mind with a new maintenance project kicking off on the the MetroBikeLink Trail.   The St Clair County Transit District will begin performing trail maintenance from the Brookhill Subdivision to the Memorial MetroLink Station, a two and half mile improvement to the oldest section of the system.  The limits of the work are as follows:

  1. Trail Sealing & Crack Repair from Brookhill to the South McKinley and Main Street to the East Edge of the Rt 159 Bike Trail Bridge
  2. Center line Striping from Brookhill Subdivision to Memorial MetroLink Station

“This maintenance project on the oldest section of our trail system demonstrates our commitment to maintaining a vibrant system for both visitors and residents alike. SCCTD is focusing on ramping up customer service and customer experience to not only maintain ridership but also build ridership on our system. Other actions include a MetroLink Access Control Pilot at the Fairview Heights Station, new programs to build ridership like the Try and Ride and Ten Toe programs, art along our trail system and looking to the future of our MetroBus system,” Richard Meile, St. Clair County Transit District Board Chair.

The contractor will begin cleaning the joints and crack filling on Wednesday September 12, 2018 and continue Thursday 13th and Friday 14th, 2018.  The seal coating of the pavement will commence on Monday, September 20th, 2018.  The center line striping will be completed the week of September 24, 2018.  The contractor has placed barricades along the trail advising the public of the work.  While this work is taking place, we ask the public to not use the trail.
