The St. Clair County Transit District (SCCTD) is announcing periodic closures of the MetroBikeLink Trail from Shiloh Scott Metrolink Station to the Fairview Heights Metrolink Station for necessary upgrades and improvements. Contractors are currently working to install new emergency call boxes and upgraded trail signage as part of our commitment to enhancing safety and the overall user experience.
The work will occur during daylight hours, and while the trail will remain open, users may encounter minor temporary detours, equipment near work areas and/or on the trail, as well as potential dust and debris. We appreciate your patience as we complete these enhancements to make the trail safer and easier to navigate for all users.
New Call Boxes for Enhanced Safety
The new call boxes, strategically placed along the trail, will provide direct communication to emergency services, offering peace of mind to cyclists, runners, and walkers.
Improved Trail Signage
The updated signage will include clearer directions, distance markers, and important information to help trail users better enjoy their journey along the MetroBikeLink.
We encourage all trail users to exercise caution near work zones and follow posted signs and detours. We ask that trail users be respectful to the contractors and their work areas as they continue to work safely along the alignment. The SCCTD is dedicated to providing a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone, and these updates are an essential part of that mission.
We appreciate your understanding and patience as we work to improve the MetroBikeLink Trail for everyone’s benefit. We anticipate this work to be completed on or before 01/01/2025, although completion date could vary based on weather.
