ST. CLAIR COUNTY TRANSIT DISTRICT IS ON THE MOVE

St. Clair County Transit District opens new offices on Public Square with transit access

The St. Clair County Transit District (SCCTD) is on the move in Southwestern Illinois. The District recently moved its offices to downtown Belleville on the Square with access via transit.  The District’s new home at 27 North Illinois Street is serviced by the #1 MetroBus providing access to the Belleville MetroLink Station and greater visibility for the office for customers.

“We are working very hard under the new leadership of our Managing Director Ken Sharkey and our board to get back to the business of serving the citizens of Southwestern Illinois,” said Richard Meile, St. Clair County Transit District Board Chair. “Our new office is now accessible via transit, supports the downtown area of Belleville and provides greater exposure for our work of building an accessible St. Clair County with transit. Special thanks to St. Clair County Board Chairman Kern and St. Clair County Public Buildilng Commission for preserving this building for another century of service to the public.”

The historic building, formerly the Belleville Electric Company, was renovated to fit the needs of the Transit District while preserving the architectural detail of the original building.

Founded in 1981, St. Clair County Transit District oversees 11 MetroLink stations and 18 bus routes in St. Clair County, IL.  If commuters have any questions about service, they can contact (618) 628-8090 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday – Friday.  For more information visit www.scctd.org.
