SCCTD is strengthening its commitment to rider safety through a new partnership with the Mascoutah Police Department. Approved by the SCCTD Board of Trustees on July 17, the agreement authorizes the department to provide law enforcement services at the new MidAmerica St. Louis Airport MetroLink Station. The partnership becomes the fifth local police agency working with SCCTD to support security along the Illinois MetroLink alignment.
SCCTD invests more than $4.1 million annually in law enforcement services supporting transit security. The investment includes partnerships with local police departments, a full-time MetroLink detail through the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department and supplemental deputy coverage along the corridor. The Sheriff’s Department’s dedicated transit policing unit includes 15 deputies and represents more than $2.2 million in annual services.
The Mascoutah Police Department joins existing partnerships with the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department and the police departments in Belleville, Fairview Heights, Shiloh and Swansea. Together, these agencies help provide a visible security presence throughout the transit system, supporting safe and reliable travel for riders across St. Clair County.
