This past summer the St. Clair County Transit District (SCCTD) hosted the “Go Trailing” program to promote MetroBikeLink use and transit in Southwestern Illinois. Between May 11 and August 11, more than 50 participants tracked over 8,860 miles on the SCCTD MetroBikeLink system as part of the program. This free initiative allowed participants to track miles and earn prizes as they biked, walked, wheeled, ran, skated or skipped along the more than 30 miles of interconnecting trails and bike paths extending from the Fairview Heights Transit Center to the Shiloh-Scott Transit Center in Southwestern Illinois.
Prizes were awarded to those who tracked 10, 25, 50, 75 and 100 miles and included sunglasses, water bottles, t-shirts, trucker hats, monthly transit passes, bike helmets, bike lights and portable pumps for bike tires. All who tracked 100 miles or more by August 11 were entered into a drawing to win one of three grand prizes – which included a $100 gift certificate to a local bike shop, Bluetooth earbuds and a Fitbit Fitness Tracker.
