SCCTD and Chestnut Health Systems to Offer Resources on National Overdose Awareness Day

To raise awareness about the resources available on opioid abuse, St. Clair County Transit District is teaming up with Chestnut Health Systems on August 31st to make resources available on National Overdose Awareness Day.

Chestnut Health Systems will be staffing a tent at the Belleville MetroLink station to provide riders Narcan, Narcan training and information regarding opioids, opioid abuse, other substance overdose, and treatment options. Staff will be available from 9am-3:30pm, with the exception of 12-1p.m.

In April, the St. Clair County Transit District (SCCTD) launched a one-year pilot program with Chestnut Health Systems™, a not-for-profit health and human services organization, and Metro Public Safety to address challenging behaviors by some riders of the local transit system.  SCCTD is investing nearly $200,000 to enable mental health advisors, SCCTD Ambassadors, the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department, and Metro Transit Public Safety to mitigate the number of incidents.
