St. Clair County Transit District Set to Open Liberty Heights Trail on November 6

The St. Clair County Transit District (SCCTD) is set to officially unveil the newest bike and pedestrian pathway known as the Liberty Heights Trail with a ribbon cutting event on Thursday, Nov. 6.  The new, 0.75-mile, paved bike and pedestrian pathway is part of the ever-evolving MetroBikeLink System. This trail is being constructed on the Caseyville Township right-of-way.

Amenities along the trail feature a bench; landscaping; cameras, including three under the bridge in the box culvert provided by the City of Fairview Heights, and connection to the MetroBikeLink system and transit. This will be the first of 7 phases ultimately providing trail access from Highway 161 in Belleville passing through Swansea to The Rec Complex of Fairview Heights.
