SCCTD Postpones Red Bird Express for 2021 Season Due to Pandemic

Due to the ongoing challenges of the pandemic, the St. Clair County Transit District (SCCTD) Board of Trustees has decided to postpone the start of the 2021 Red Bird Express service. The popularity of the Red Bird Express for St. Louis Cardinals’ home games makes social distancing impossible.  MetroLink is a great option for those fans heading to the home games in 2021.  The Board will re-examine this decision as the region changes its COVID protocols.

“While the Red Bird Express is a favorite for our residents, safety and security of riders is our top priority,” commented Herb Simmons, Chair of the St. Clair County Transit District Board. “MetroLink offers an alternative hassle-free means for Metro East residents to get to and from Cardinals home games.”

MetroLink is also a great option for Cardinals home games.  Roundtrip cost on MetroLink is $5.00 per adult, and reduced fare information available at www.scctd.org.  Passengers can board at any of the 11 MetroLink stations in Illinois and arrive at Busch Stadium via the Stadium Station, across the street from Gate 3.   Red Bird Express fare is $10 adult $5 for child approved prior to the canceled 2020 season.
