Red Bird Express Service Available for all 2020 Cardinals Home Games

As Cardinals fans prepare to flock the streets of downtown St. Louis for the start of the 2020 baseball season, St. Clair County Transit District (SCCTD) reminds area residents about the availability of its Red Bird Express Service. This safe, convenient and cost-effective transportation option utilized by more than 100,000 passengers last year is available for all home games, starting Thursday, April 2. The cost for a roundtrip ticket is $8 for those age 13 years and older, $4 for children two to 12 years in age and free for anyone under two.

“Traffic congestion, high parking fees, and long-distance walking is often synonymous with going to the ballpark – but, it doesn’t have to be,” commented Herb Simmons, Chair of the St. Clair County Transit District Board. “Both the MetroLink and Redbird Express Service offer a safe and hassle-free means for Metro East residents to get to and from Cardinals home games.”

The Red Bird Express Service departs from 34 St. Clair Square in Fairview Heights – in the mall parking lot near the water tower – and drops passengers off at the corner of Clark Street and Broadway, just steps from Gates 5 and 6. The first bus leaves St. Clair Square 2.5 hours prior to game time with frequent service available up to 40 minutes before the first pitch. Return trips originate at Clark Street between Broadway and 4th Street. The first departure is made as soon as the bus nears capacity. Service continues up to 45 minutes after the official end of the game. All buses are wheelchair lift-equipped. Passengers may experience delays during return trips.

MetroLink is also a great option for Cardinals’ home games.  Roundtrip cost on MetroLink is $5.00 per adult, and reduced fare information available on our Red Bird Express page.  Passengers can board at any of the 11 MetroLink stations in Illinois and arrive at Busch Stadium via the Stadium Station, across the street from Gate 3. Tickets for the Red Bird Express Service are available through the Metro Transit ticket vendor at St. Clair Square (cash only).
