St. Clair County Transit District Selects TransLoc to Bring On-Demand Transportation to East St. Louis

Provides access to underserved neighborhoods

TransLoc, announced the rollout of a microtransit program with the St. Clair County Transit District (SCCTD) and provides much-needed access to transportation for residents outside of walking-distance to transit in the East St. Louis area of Illinois.

“The SCCTD Flyer will be a great option when inclement weather, darkness, or general safety is of concern for customers trying to walk longer distances to access the MetroLink or MetroBus,” Lonnie Mosely, member of the St. Clair County Transit District Board of Trustees said. “ This flexible, on-demand shared ride service should boost ridership on the overall transit system.”

“TransLoc is thrilled to partner with SCCTD to bring on-demand transit to East St. Louis,” noted Ron Cygnarowicz, TransLoc’s VP of Customers. “Connecting riders in underserved areas to transit gives them a lifeline to work, school, and community.”

SCCTD launched the program using TransLoc’s intelligent technology to determine if microtransit would improve accessibility and connections to existing fixed-route bus solutions. Since November, Flyer has provided door-to-door transit services to four MetroLink stations, including 5th & Missouri, Emerson Park, Washington Park, and JKK center, making transit more accessible for East. St. Louis riders. Rides can be requested through the TransLoc app from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m., Monday through Friday, with a $3 one-way fare within East St. Louis boundaries.
